  • Kindergarten Application is Open on Dec. 8th

Beginning Wednesday, December 8th, children born in 2017 can apply to kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year.

The application deadline is Tuesday, January 18, 2022. All families who apply by the deadline will receive a kindergarten offer in April.

All families should participate in kindergarten admissions, including children currently attending pre-K, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and students with accessibility needs.

MySchools.nyc includes an online directory tool that allows families to explore program choices, save programs of interest and submit their application, all on the same site.

Families can apply to Kindergarten in two ways, online at MySchools and over the phone by calling 718-935-2009. Here is a flyer about virtual admissions events: Elementary School Admissions Events

Please reach out to EsEnrollment@schools.nyc.gov with questions.

  • Mandatory Covid Testing Approval

The DOE has issued new guidelines for students returning to the school building in December.Consent for random in-school testing is now MANDATORY for all students in 1st-8th grades in order to enter the 276 school building.  Please see the new guidance, including information on quarantining upon return from travel.

Please access your NYC Schools account (NYCSA)  to provide consent. We can also accept a printout of this hard copy form but strongly encourage you to use the online portal as we are not in the building before December 7.  If you completed the form prior to October 14, we ask that you resubmit the form as it has been updated to reflect that they may test "AT LEAST once a month" rather than "once a month". To re-submit, please find 'Consent Forms' under 'Manage Account'. Random testing will occur weekly and your childWILL be tested if we have your original signed consent on file.

Our Mission

The students of the Battery Park City School are competent, capable, curious, and caring individuals who discover the unique contributions they will draw upon as they become responsible members of society.  Our students are lifelong learners prepared to engage in the work of creating new paradigms for an increasingly inclusive and sustainable world.

To make this vision a reality, we nurture the academic, emotional, social, and physical well-being of each child by building on their intrinsic strengths.  The school community works collaboratively, ensuring that each student has a voice and is represented in the curriculum, in order to create an environment of equity and respect for all.
